Mechanical Test Technician
Location: Suzhou/Wuxi, China
Department: Mechanical Engineering
Reports To: Director/Manager, Mechanical Engineering
Position Summary
NextPower is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Test Technician to support product validation and qualification activities through the execution of physical testing. This role will be responsible for setting up and conducting tests, maintaining test equipment, supporting supplier qualification activities, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with internal and external testing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical, environmental, and reliability tests according to approved test plans and procedures.
- Set up test equipment, instrumentation, fixtures, and data acquisition systems.
- Prepare test samples and maintain test laboratory equipment and work areas.
- Collect, record, and organize test data accurately and efficiently.
- Document test observations, anomalies, failures, and results in formal reports and databases.
- Support engineers in product validation, failure investigations, and root cause analysis activities.
- Assist with supplier qualification testing and evaluation programs.
- Verify testing activities comply with internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for laboratory operations and testing efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to safety requirements and laboratory best practices.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience performing mechanical testing, laboratory testing, or product validation activities.
- Experience operating mechanical test equipment, environmental chambers, and measurement instruments.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent in Mandarin; basic English proficiency preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting supplier qualification or quality assurance programs.
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems and test automation tools.
- Experience in power electronics, energy storage, industrial equipment, or related industries.
- Knowledge of ISO-based quality systems and laboratory best practices.
