Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer, DC Power develops the electrical content within technical customer proposals for Vertiv's Modular Power Converters product line. This role works under the direction of the Project Proposals & Global Engineering Lead, producing technical specification documents, single-line diagrams, and customer-facing electrical content. A key responsibility is reviewing project designs developed by Global design teams to verify accuracy against customer expectations and requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Draft electrical specification documents for customer packages, including single-line diagrams, power architecture layouts, and protection coordination schemes
- Perform load calculations and system sizing for DC power distribution configurations
- Create customer-facing electrical content - system descriptions, functional overviews, protection philosophy, and redundancy explanations
- Maintain proposal templates and standard electrical content library for reuse across bids
- Review project designs (electrical) under Proposals Lead for accuracy to customer expectations
- Verify requirements traceability - ensure every customer electrical requirement has a corresponding specification response
- Identify discrepancies between customer requirements and proposed design; escalate to Proposals Lead
- Collaborate with team members to ensure electrical and mechanical package content is consistent
- Support Global design teams with electrical specification clarifications during detailed design phase
- Support compliance team with electrical content for certification packages as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience in power systems, power distribution, or power electronics design
- Experience with single-line diagrams, power architecture layouts, and protection coordination for DC distribution
- Experience with load calculations, system sizing, and protection device sizing
- Ability to produce clear, customer-ready specification documents
- Accuracy in translating customer requirements to design specifications
- Proficiency with Siemens Xpedition (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, Visio, or equivalent drawing tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in telecom or data center power infrastructure
- Familiarity with DC distribution architectures (48VDC, 54VDC, 800VDC)
- Experience with UL/NEC/IEC standards as applied to power distribution
- Previous proposal, bid, or design engineering role
- Experience with monitoring/control systems (SNMP, Modbus, CAN bus)
- Familiarity with thermal management in power systems
Travel Requirements:
- 5-10%, including internationally
