Senior Engineer, Embedded Software Applications Engineering
Analog Devices (ADI) is seeking an Embedded Software Applications Engineer to join our solutions team that supports a broad range of industry leading high-performance linear solutions and standard products in end applications such as industrial automation, instrumentation, automotive, healthcare and communication systems.
Role Overview
As an Embedded Software Apps Engineer, you'll join our Apps Engineering team integrating embedded software solutions for high-performance analog and mixed-signal products across industries like industrial automation, robotics, and communications. You'll work at the intersection of hardware and software, taking on driver integration projects and embedded system bring-up initiatives while receiving mentorship from senior engineers as you develop your professional expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate low-level drivers and hardware abstraction layers into embedded Linux and real-time operating systems
- Contribute to embedded system bring-up projects, working with hardware teams to initialize, configure, and debug systems
- Support the hardware and software teams in system level integration
- Contribute to the development of embedded applications and demonstration software for evaluation platforms running Linux and bare-metal environments
- Create technical documentation, application notes, and reference implementations for embedded system integration
- Develop training materials and workshops on embedded software integration for academic and commercial customers
- Provide support through technical forums to troubleshoot complex embedded system integration challenges
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronics
- Understanding of embedded Linux development concepts, including device drivers, kernel modules, and userspace applications
- Knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, and other embedded communication interfaces
- Proficiency in Python, Bash scripting, and build systems (Make, CMake)
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Understanding of ADC/DAC interfaces and signal processing concepts
- Knowledge of analog, linear and mixed-signal circuit fundamentals and devices
- Exposure to electronics measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, multimeters
