Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Engineer Electrical/Principal Engineer Electrical to join the team of qualified individuals. Position is located in San Diego, CA.
Join the mission to help deliver mission-ready capability by advancing automation and applying “Test Like You Fly” discipline in a fast-paced, high-performing Test & Evaluation environment. In this role you will be designing, developing, testing, and debugging software and systems with logical and mathematical solutions while refining automation, analyzing user needs and system capabilities, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure software standards are met. In this role you will be supporting Test Planning & Execution and T&E Management through test activities, lab integration, and automation, with potential involvement in System Level 3 work such as requirements analysis, procedure development, checkout, formal execution, and continuous maintenance/improvement of Systems Center tasking, and you will also be responsible for creating, updating, and releasing key documentation while communicating effectively up and out as well as down and in to drive first-time quality and engineering rigor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/Refine automation framework
- Develop and release documentation to include automated components as part of the system design
- Responsible for development and execution of automated and manual test cases to verify system functional requirements
- The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and able to learn challenging concepts quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Developing robust nominal & off-nominal automated test cases centered on improving the user experience
- Work independently on assigned tasks to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once
- Flexibility to support weekends, multiple shifts, and off hours.
- The candidate will also be expected to actively seek opportunities for process improvement
- Interface and present test integration and execution results to program and test leadership at pre-and-post-test reviews

Basic Qualifications for Engineer Electrical:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 0 years of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Electrical:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience.
Basic Qualifications for Both Levels:
- Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Proficient writing Python scripts and PowerShell
- Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems & Virtual Machines (VMs)
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile development methodology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security+ certification
- Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and Jazz)
- Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)
- Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks
- Experience with Java, C++, Python
- Experience working System Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering
