Job Description
Position Summary:
The Cold Forming Engineer is responsible for updating or redesigning existing cold forming tooling for improved performance and completing new designs for future projects as identified by the Engineering Manager or Plant Manager. The Cold Forming Engineer will create layouts identifying tooling by machine and product, create inspection fixtures to aid in part inspection, and make machine and process recommendations. The Cold Forming Engineer will work with Production and Manufacturing to define production needs and improve machine flexibility. The Cold Forming Engineer must also work closely with Manufacturing and Quality Control in troubleshooting, tooling preparation, and production for product quality and integrity.
Position Responsibilities:
- Timely development of forming tooling and processes for redesign or new product development projects assigned at the facility.
- Develop, design, and troubleshoot tooling and cold forming processes of near net, net and precision forming; assist in the selection of forming processes and equipment.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Utilizes Industry 4.0 elements to improve processes and productivity.
- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Develops and prepares formal cost justifications for purchase of Capital Equipment; Develops tooling sources and budgetary costs for tooling.
- Utilize solid modeling and drawing software to prepare layouts, drawings, and sketches (2d and 3d).
- Analyzes data and trends to identify problems and opportunities and makes recommendations.
- Completes work improvement projects by training and guiding operators and supervisors.
- Works closely with other departments including manufacturing, sales, marketing, quality control and other engineering departments.
- Keeps abreast of technological changes and trends by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and support sustainment efforts of new/improved processes; Contribute to cost savings plans set up by corporate initiatives.
- Support plant policies, goals, standards, values and strategic planning; responsible for adhering to the Environmental Policy as well as supporting the procedures and work instructions maintained within the Environmental Management System.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in appropriate engineering discipline, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3-7 years’ experience in designing cold forming tooling.
• Must have experience with solid modeling and drawing software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar).

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in appropriate engineering discipline, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Must have experience with solid modeling and drawing software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).
• Ability to drive change in products, processes, and organization culture
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional/trade publication; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
