Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Engineer with expertise in Cloud Security, Container Security, 5G Telecommunications, and automation programming to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring that our software, systems, and infrastructure adhere to the highest security standards, while fostering innovation and strengthening the organization’s overall security posture.
The Cybersecurity Engineer will lead efforts in technical security assessments, vulnerability testing, and secure code reviews. The role focuses on designing and implementing robust, scalable security solutions for a variety of platforms, including 5G Access and Core technologies (e.g., 3GPP RAN, Packet Core, IMS), cloud environments, and containerized applications.
The ideal candidate excels in dynamic, fast-paced environments and brings a deep passion for security automation, cutting-edge 5G technologies, and advanced problem-solving.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable security solutions for 5G telecommunications systems, cloud infrastructures, and containerized applications.
  • Secure cloud and container platforms, maximising tools like Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate security processes, including vulnerability management and compliance monitoring, using modern programming tools and scripts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security standard processes into the development and deployment lifecycle.
  • Conduct risk analysis for new and existing systems, identifying and mitigating potential threats.
  • Stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats and industry standard processes, ensuring proactive risk management.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for security procedures, configurations, and guidelines.
  • Perform security reviews of new telecom technologies and designs, ensuring they meet organizational and industry security standards. Outline and define necessary security requirements for systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Performs security, compliance, and risk assessments on projects throughout project lifecycle.
  • Maintains visibility inside & outside of info security at an Engineering professional level. Interfaces with groups such as application support, engineering ops, finance, privacy, risk management, etc.
  • Helps execute security projects driven by groups both internal and external to info security.
  • Familiarity with implementation of various threat modeling approaches pertaining to one or more of the following STRIDE, PASTA, TRIKE, ATTACK TREE, DREAD, KILL CHAIN, CAPEC, Mobile Application threat model, Cyber Threat Tree, and data flow diagram.
  • Familiarity with the analysis of underlying technologies that form the solution necessary for the application of threat identification, analysis, and thread model design. The threat model depicts trust boundary, threat agent(s), threat vector(s), and safeguard(s) necessary to protect person, asset, data, and T-Mobile brand.
  • Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science, or Information Technology. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree may be considered.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years’ Experience in info security technology or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud and container technologies, with practical experience in tools like Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation tools, including Python, Terraform (Hashi Corp), YAML, Shell, and Perl.
  • Comprehensive understanding of 4G/5G telecommunications systems, including Access, Packet Core, and IMS Core.
  • Familiarity with advanced security tools, such as Nokia NCLM, CyberArk, Hashi Corp Vault, Microsoft Sentinel, and Terraform (Hashi Corp).
  • Skilled in vulnerability analysis, firewall architecture and design, and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS)
  • Some knowledge of critical security elements, threats, vulnerabilities, and safeguards
  • Knowledge of information security policies and regulatory controls (per team function)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate internally, upward, and cross functionally; ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members to gain support required to accomplish assignments; able to build coalitions.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and multitask.
  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks to complete independently; Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines.
  • Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in info security.
  • Presentation skills to large and small audiences.
  • Authority in a few facets of network & information security, including Firewall policy design, SSL Certificate management, vulnerability analysis & mitigation, and other topics as assigned.
  • Knowledge of federal & compliance regulations e.g. SOX, PCI & CPNI
  •     Knowledge of Scripting tools (Python/Perl/Shell/HTML/PHP).

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP and/or CCSK and/or CCSP and/or CISA/CISM certification)

Base Pay Range: $79,900 - $144,100

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
