Finnair Technical Operations division's task is to execute Finnair's flight operations safely, economically and in a reliable manner. Finnair Technical Operations is responsible for the airworthiness of the Finnair fleet. The key objectives of Technical Operations are safety, reliable flight operations and cost-efficient maintenance processes.    

 

We are now looking for an 
 
ANALYTICS ENGINEER, TECHNICAL OPERATIONS (Business-side role) 
 

to develop the ways we leverage and manage AMOS data. AMOS (Swiss AS) is the core ERP system for Technical Operations (Tech OPS). It is used to manage our aircraft, maintenance, engineering and operational processes 

In this role you will improve the quality and consistency of AMOS data by developing our ways of working, build AMOS and Power BI reports, dashboards and automations, and improve the way Finnair uses AMOS.  

You will be working on the business side between data and operations, as this role bridges together Tech OPS strategic and operational priorities from all stakeholders and the AMOS data; building the best possible solutions for Tech OPS needs while optimizing and standardizing the way we handle data. 

You will be working in close cooperation with our other analytics engineers, AMOS Main User, AMOS Super and key users and IT department. This is a business-side analytics and data role in Tech OPS Continuous Improvement team and focuses on Tech OPS use cases. IT administration of AMOS or other systems is not a part of this role.

In this role, you will be responsible to: 

  • Develop the ways data is used across Technical Operations. 

  • Build and develop AMOS and Power BI reports, dashboards and data automations for operational needs. 

  • Lead, support and contribute to AMOS development, version upgrades and related data and analytics projects. 

  • Develop data analysis methods together with Tech OPS and IT departments. 

  • Contribute to improving the quality and consistency of AMOS data. 

  • Support, help and coach other Tech OPS analysts in complex data and reporting matters. 

  • Act as the analytics-area AMOS Super User, coordinating closely with the AMOS Main User. 

  • Contribute to developing the use of AI in data analytics. 

  • Maintain Tech OPS documentation for reports, automations, data models and processes, ensuring continuity and knowledge sharing. 

  • Ensure data handling complies with GDPR, data privacy, and relevant data governance policies. 

Our expectations: 

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in engineering or another field suited to data work. 

  • Proven experience in working with data. 

  • Strong SQL skills. 

  • Strong Power BI report building skills.  

  • Understanding of links and data flows between different data sources. 

  • Proven experience in working with agentic AI tools (Claude preferred). 

  • Ability to coordinate work in matrix effectively; you will be the key support for the AMOS Main User and the AMOS Super User network and business stakeholders across the Tech OPS departments. 

  • Good communication skills; able to explain data and reporting clearly to non-technical colleagues. 

  • Good team working skills and service-oriented mindset.

 

In addition, we highly appreciate:

  • Experience with ERP systems and data, aviation ERP experience is a major benefit. 

  • Experience with data integrations and ETL work, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, DBT, GitHub. 

  • Knowledge of maintenance and supply chain processes, predictive maintenance, aviation industry or Lean. 

  • Experience of managing data successfully during system upgrades, patches and new systems implementations.  

  • Experience in working with business metrics.

  • Good understanding of Python or another programming language. 

  • Experience with data governance frameworks and/or GDPR compliance in a data role.
