THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Air and Climate Strategy Specialist, the Engineer (Air & Climate Strategy) will manage and execute emissions programs in accordance with regulatory requirements. The position will work internally to ensure regulatory compliance and improve carbon accounting data systems.
The position is based in Calgary with occasional travel to the Fort St. John office and field.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
- Collect, analyze, validate and transfer PETRONAS activity data relevant to air emission programs to external service providers
- Work with service providers to prepare regulated reports (e.g., provincial and federal GHG, Methane, NPRI, MSAPR, DEOS, facility permit compliance, etc) and lead verification activities
- Develop and operationalize quality assurance systems for key air emission data sources (e.g., fuel/flare volumes, gas compositions, diesel fuel, repair Work Order status, etc.) with respective data owners (e.g., production measurement, DTS, data analytics, etc.)
- Conceptualize data management systems that minimize manual data extraction and transfer
- Schedule and manage execution of field programs (e.g., engine exhaust stack testing, passive air monitoring, etc.)
- Prepare Requests for Proposals and support supply chain activities
- Interface and represent PETRONAS in specific discussions with regulators, and provide documentation and support to business operations to enhance processes and procedures to ensure operational compliance
- Develop presentations and effectively communicate with a variety of key stakeholders.
- Other special projects as required
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Completion of an Engineering degree, within the Petroleum, Mechanical, Software or Chemical disciplines
- 3+ years of experience within the oil and gas industry with exposure to natural gas operations and data systems
- Exposure to BC operations, BC Energy Regulator and field experience would be an asset
- Proven ability to evaluate complex data systems, identify foundational elements, design queries and implement durable data transfer tools
- Proficiency in planning and control of work in a multi-project, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds
- Able to prioritize work, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a fast paced, high volume team environment
- Proactive approach to problem solving with a strong ability to take initiative
- Total commitment to a safety first attitude
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) with a clean driver’s abstract
