Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job Description
Site Overview:
GE Aerospace has an advanced engineering center located in Istanbul, Kartal, complemented by cutting-edge laboratories in Kocaeli, Gebze. Additionally, our offices in Istanbul and Ankara provide essential support to commercial and defense engines across the country. The highly skilled engineers at the Türkiye Technology Center also contribute to GE Aerospace’s engineering work on indigenous programs, new engine programs, software development, and additive manufacturing, supporting the country’s position as an advanced aerospace hub. We are committed to a culture based on respect for people and provide professional growth opportunities for our employees. Join us and find an opportunity to shape the future of flight.
Role Overview:
- Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Includes the analysis of static (structural) and dynamic (mechanical vibrations, dynamic aeroelasticity) behavior of compression system airfoils.
- Developing in-depth knowledge in airfoil mechanical design, analysis, and manufacturing within a multidisciplinary environment working with experts in aeromechanics and compression system design. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- Develop processes and champion utilization of AI supported solutions for airfoil design mechanical tradeoffs in collaboration with adjacent disciplines
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members
The Ideal Candidate is a mechanically strong and analytically minded engineer with hands-on experience in turbomachinery component design, particularly in airfoil mechanical design, structural FEA, and modal analysis. They bring a solid theoretical foundation in vibration, mechanics of materials, fatigue, fluid dynamics, and preferably aeroelasticity, along with the ability to independently define problems, develop analysis approaches, and interpret results effectively. The candidate should also be comfortable leveraging AI-supported tools to improve design trade-offs, automate workflows, and enhance engineering decision-making in a multidisciplinary environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- At least 2 years experiences in turbomachinary component design
- Demonstrated experience on FEA especially on static structural, and modal analysis, hardware design experience preferably in turbomachinery airfoil mechanical design.
- Strong theoretical background in vibration, mechanics of materials, material fatigue, fluid dynamics, and digital signal processing. Knowledge of aeroelasticity is also preferred. Autonomous in defining problem, building analysis path and interpreting analysis results relative to expectations.
- Ability to utilize AI (Artificial Intelligence) effectively in problem solving, reporting and automatizing analysis and iterative design work. Demonstrated prior experience in AI supported hardware design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills. Effective in problem solving and process improvement.
- Preferred experiences in vibration and fatigue analysis
