Job Summary

The Advanced Engineering Core Video team supports Comcast’s video delivery infrastructure. The Core Video team oversees the end-to-end video delivery across multiple regions including linear broadcast, video-on-demand, streaming, and cloud tv services for cable and internet delivery. Team members are integral contributors and advisors on the design of core video network elements. The video engineer would be called upon to solve challenges with end-to-end distribution of broadcast video, IPTV streaming, and video content delivery networks. Video engineers work within large-scale operations, video delivery architecture, and signal processing systems.
Please note: this position is 4 days in office, at one of the listed location, and 1 day remote weekly

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

• Develops practices and procedures for network installation, maintenance and operation.

• Develops and implements test and acceptance criteria for network elements.

• Schedules equipment activations, customer-affecting network maintenance develops documents of customer networks for network users. Meets with potential customers, designs solutions, works with vendors on pricing and implements solutions that are adaptable to customer need changes.

• Exercises judgment during incident management, site design, network configuration and network activation to ensure efficient use of funds and time.

• Designs network site planning for multiple regional network sites.

• Represents Regional Company interests with providers to ensure timely delivery of circuits.

• Develops and maintains network element documentation and inventory. Maintains appropriate inventory or network spare equipment for rapid restoration.

• Orders, tracks and reports on all internal and external wired and wireless connection activation activities.

• Develops cost proposal documents.

• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Knowledge of: 

• MPEG2/4 Compression

• IP Video, HTTP, CDN

• RF/HFC/rPHY Design

• IGMP/Multicast distribution and troubleshooting

• MPEG and HTTP Ad Insertion

• Conditional Access Systems

• Video acquisition to include 8VSB, Public/Education/Government services, SDI, satellite downlink

Compensation

Primary Location Pay Range: $95,524.29 - $143,286.44

This job can be performed in California, and Washington with a Pay Range of $82,498.25 - $149,799.46

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Education

Bachelor's Degree (Required)

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
