Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce, and manage engineering solutions for product control and control system technology needs. Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors. Includes operability, setting of boundaries, cycle optimization, control logic, control related software, sensors, hardware and software algorithms, and feedback to control the performance of devices, subsystems and systems.
- In this position, the individual will be responsible to deliver on New Unit and Services scope requisition projects on Generator Controls – Excitation Control, Static Starter systems, Power System and Grid code studies.
- Working with experienced Engineers, Technical Leaders and Controller Title Holders (CTH) in the team, design Electrical Controls solutions for new unit, & services applications, the successful candidate will utilize her/his problem-solving, technical & interpersonal skills & project management experience to
- Pro-actively collaborate with the commercial and ITO teams to drive successful & smooth OTR execution of Electrical Controls solutions.
- Provide constructive inputs, drive continuous improvement and lean process implementation.
- Create customized product documentation for internal and external customers.
- Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy.
- Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence & lead.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in electrical or power systems engineering or equivalent with 3-4 years of experience
- Deep technical knowledge and/or experience in Power Systems, Power Conversion/Generator Engineering.
- Strong communication, presentation & project management skills
- Self-motivated and willingness to be challenged and execute using new technologies & skills
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge on Generator, Excitation Controls systems including their interfaces
- Knowledge or experience in developing control logic using Ladder logic / Block logic diagrams
- Working knowledge on simulation tools like Matlab Simulink, PLECS
- Working knowledge on Power System tools like PSSe, PSLF
- Knowledge of Gas Turbine Controls and operational philosophy would be welcome
- Knowledge of Network protocols, GE Toolbox/Toolbox ST or ControlST software suite
