Who will you be working with?

You will collaborate with a global engine technology team and regional cross-functional stakeholders. This team focuses on delivering advanced engine platforms and power solutions for locomotives, ensuring reliability, cost efficiency, and performance improvements.

How will you make a difference?

As an Engine Platform Engineer, you will serve as the single point of contact for engine-related requisitions in your region and own the engine platform. You will lead efforts in technology development, manufacturing support, validation, and reliability improvements. Your role will include driving cost-out initiatives, supporting new product introductions (NPI), and resolving field issues to enhance customer satisfaction and business performance.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Solid technical understanding of reciprocating engine technologies.
    • Experience in reciprocating engine system application and/or component design.
    • Strong program management skills in a matrix environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and formulate strategies with senior engineering leaders.
    • Experience in NPI, supplier and customer interactions, field failure analysis, and reliability improvements.
    • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Desired Characteristics:
    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Business analysis, problem-solving, and strategy development capabilities.
    • Ability to interact at all organizational levels and with other Wabtec businesses.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Act as the regional single point of contact for engine requisitions and platform ownership.
  • Anticipate and apply new technologies to improve locomotive reliability, cost, and performance.
  • Participate in program and design reviews, defending recommendations.
  • Focus reliability improvement efforts on high-priority customer issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams for manufacturing, overhaul, and NPI projects.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and requirement interpretation.
  • Participate in field testing and validation activities.
