About the opportunity

The School of Social and Political Sciences is seeking an Engagement Officer to support the School’s strategic engagement priorities, with a broad focus on developing and delivering community and industry engagement activities.

Working closely with the Head of School and School Manager, the Engagement Officer will support the implementation of the School's External Engagement Strategy, alumni engagement and current student programs, including providing administrative support, managing effective stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating engagement activities and identifying new engagement opportunities. The Engagement Officer will support the School's outreach and program activities, to increase discipline-specific awareness amongst high school students and build our pipeline of future students.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide high-quality, proactive and efficient administrative services and support to staff, students, external partners and stakeholders, contributing to the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the School's External Engagement Strategy
  • coordinate and deliver programs, projects and events, including community engagement, industry engagement, high school outreach, alumni engagement and current student initiatives
  • build and maintain collaborative relationships and strategic partnerships
  • develop and implement communication and engagement activities
  • monitor performance, reporting and continuous improvement.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering engagement programs, events, and activities that drive participation and achieve target audience outcomes
  • Proven ability to establish, negotiate, and manage effective partnership agreements and stakeholder relationships
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions and manage competing priorities
  • Highly developed organisational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and relationship management skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and computer applications, with experience creating engagement tools and using data to support planning and continuous improvement.
