Engagement Coordinator, Frontiers Planet Prize
This is a fixed-term 12 month contract
Are you passionate about sustainability, science communication, and working with influential stakeholders? The Frontiers Planet Prize is seeking an Engagement Coordinator to assist in amplifying the visibility and impact of its mission in advancing scientific research for a sustainable future. This 12-month, full-time role, offers a unique chance for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment at the intersection of sustainability and communications.
The Frontiers Planet Prize is a global science competition designed to mobilize the entire academic community, and reward solutions that help humanity remain within the boundaries of our planet. Each edition recognizes a National Champion from every participating country, as well as three International Champions, each of whom is awarded 1 million USD to accelerate and scale their research.
Role Summary:
As an Engagement Coordinator, you will support initiatives that raise the profile of the Frontiers Planet Prize and its network of thought leaders. Working closely with the Associate Director, you will coordinate and oversee the development of high-quality content for the annual awards ceremony and contribute to impactful communications that elevate the Prize’s influence within and beyond the scientific community.
Key Responsibilities:
Engagement and Content Development:
- Engage with National Champions and the Frontiers scientist network to develop professional content such as summaries, articles, posters, and presentations to be showcased at the annual awards ceremony and throughout the year.
- Act as a point of contact for National Champions and external partners, coordinating initiatives, drafting proposals, and organizing application submissions, with guidance from the Associate Director.
- Assist in summarizing key insights from initiatives where Frontiers Planet Prize has a presence, helping craft articles and thought pieces for publication on the FPP website and social media channels.
- Help coordinate annual reports and progress updates, including brochures and donor reports, to communicate the Prize’s impact.
Content Amplification:
- Work with the Frontiers communications team to promote the Prize’s content and achievements, including multimedia materials from the prize community.
- Support social media initiatives by ensuring timely, organic posting of relevant content, increasing the Prize’s reach and visibility.
- Coordinate with communications, social media, and external affairs teams to amplify FPP’s deliverables, maximizing their impact on key platforms.
Event Support at the Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of activities for National Champions at the annual Frontiers Planet Prize awards ceremony.
- Play an active role in the awards ceremony delivery team, participating as a contributing team member during the live event.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to various team projects, including ad hoc tasks to enhance the Prize’s initiatives and impact.
Qualifications:
- Academic background in sustainability, environmental science, communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven interest in sustainability, scientific communication, and community engagement.
- Strong team player with a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
- Keen attention to detail.
