Position Summary
The Engagement and Belonging Coordinator collaborates with key stakeholders to assist in coordinating activities, events, and trainings to promote a sense of belonging within the organization for all. The role creates inclusive practices throughout the Council for all girls, volunteers, staff, and members, providing oversight for diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and racial justice programming functions.
At Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, most of our roles work in a hybrid capacity (in office, remote, and/or in the field). Details will be provided during the interview process.

The position is full time with a competitive minimum starting annual salary of $53,446.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop, coordinate, and execute programs and initiatives that advance cultural competency, identity development, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility for Girl Scouts, volunteers, and staff.
- Design and implement inclusive Girl Scout programming for Girl Scouts with autism and other accessibility needs, in collaboration with the Inclusion and Accommodations Specialist and other Council departments.
- Co-lead affinity-based Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) by supporting the development of goals, programming, engagement opportunities, and resources that foster connection, belonging, and professional development among employees.
- Serve as a collaborative thought partner and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging resource to Council departments, partnering to identify needs, address barriers, and provide guidance, resources, and recommendations that strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and racial justice goals across programs, initiatives, and operations.
- Serve as an advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and racial justice among the Council, volunteers, and all girls.
- Recognize and support all Heritage Month programming and work collaboratively with the Marketing Communications team.
- Research best practices, leverage demographic data and survey results to identify equity gaps, inform programs, and adjust diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and racial justice goals.
- Assist the Chief Engagement and Belonging Officer in establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations.
- Provide support to the Chief Engagement and Belonging Officer to ensure that the Council's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, objectives, and performance outcomes are effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of professional experience leading workplace training and development to support engagement and belonging initiatives.
- Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of DEIBARJ topics, including current research, best practices, and national trends.
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and racial justice goals.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage simultaneous initiatives, and operate effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team, with individuals as well as with groups with various identities, cultures, and backgrounds
- Ability to initiate creative and innovative engagement opportunities and belonging and accessibility support strategies.
- Cultural competence and high emotional intelligence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
- Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to speak and present confidently and credibly in public.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, and to represent the organization in a professional manner.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
- Ability to attend meetings and events, including on occasional evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time operating a computer, including navigating websites, software platforms, spreadsheets and both electronic and paper documents.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, and computer printer.
Occasionally positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
May need to move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
The ability to observe details at close range and at a distance.
Is required to drive/ operate an automobile.
Work Environment
Constantly works in an indoor professional office environment. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

What We Do
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving girls across St. Louis City and 28 Missouri counties. It provides leadership-development experiences and hands-on programming in STEM, money management, health, camping, robotics, and outdoor activities. Through volunteers, mentors, and community partnerships, GSEM helps girls build courage, confidence, character, practical skills, and leadership capacity while encouraging them to improve their communities.
