We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Financial Documentation Specialist to support Canadian accounting firms with year-end files, working papers, reconciliations, financial documentation, and accounting file preparation.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of senior accountants, controllers, and CPA professionals. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals, the ability to work from trial balances and general ledgers, and the discipline to prepare clean, well-documented files ready for review.
Experience with Caseware Working Papers is a strong asset, but not mandatory. Candidates with experience in audit files, working papers, financial reporting, external audit, general ledger accounting, or year-end file preparation will also be considered.
French proficiency is considered an important asset.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end accounting files and working papers.
- Work from trial balances, general ledgers, financial statements, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Document balance sheet and income statement accounts clearly and accurately.
- Assist with adjusting entries, reclassifications, and year-end documentation.
- Support the preparation of financial statement working files.
- Organize supporting documents for review by senior accountants, controllers, or CPA professionals.
- Address review notes and update working papers accordingly.
- Participate in monthly and annual closing activities when required.
- Support bookkeeping cleanup, account analysis, and financial documentation tasks.
- Ensure that accounting files are complete, structured, accurate, and ready for professional review.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external collaborators, mainly in English and, when required, in French.
- Follow internal procedures, client templates, documentation standards, and confidentiality requirements.
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, assurance, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, or year-end file preparation.
- Experience preparing or supporting working papers, audit files, year-end files, financial reporting files, or accounting documentation.
- Strong understanding of trial balances, general ledgers, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ability to prepare and document adjusting entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, structured workbooks, and financial analysis.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Ability to work under supervision, follow structured procedures, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience with Caseware Working Papers, Caseware Cloud, or similar working paper software.
- Previous experience in an accounting firm, audit firm, CPA firm, or assurance practice.
- Experience with Canadian accounting firms or international clients.
- Familiarity with North American accounting practices and reporting standards.
- Knowledge of IFRS, ISA, ASPE, or Canadian financial reporting practices.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, SAP, Oracle, Odoo, JDE, or similar accounting systems.
- Basic understanding of Canadian tax concepts such as GST/HST/QST is an asset.
- Experience responding to review notes from senior accountants, managers, or partners.
- Ability to work in a structured, quality-driven, and deadline-oriented environment.
- Comfortable collaborating remotely with international teams.
- Strong communication and coordination skills in English; French is an asset.
- Ability to follow client-specific procedures, templates, and documentation standards.
- Strong sense of accountability and professional discipline.
- Capacity to manage repetitive, technical, and detail-oriented accounting tasks with consistency.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding client financial information.

Skills Required
