Energy Storage Software Architect Lead (Sr. Manager - Director level) - Renewables & Energy Trading
Location: FULLY REMOTE  (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development, execution, and operations of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase which includes key additions to their Software, Data, and Technology Team.

The Energy Storage Software Architect and Data Engineering Team Lead is highly technical software engineering LEADERSHIP role that will utilize Python and SQL based coding techniques to further develop and test the company's backend software infrastructure. From a commercial perspective, the role will engage in the translation of business goals into data based solutions. 

This includes eliminating and adding new tools to the Tech Stack and acting as the Solutions Leader for technical troubleshooting. It will be part of a creative team focused on energy storage / battery storage energy trading strategies, asset management, and real-time energy pricing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director - Develops and implements software architecture with backtesting services for energy trading wholesale electricity markets with a key focus on energy storage initiatives
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director - Develops, updates, and implements containerized microservice optimization systems for energy storage, asset management, and energy trading initiatives
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director Creates, designs, & test python based production ready code in AWS Sagemakeer machine learning environment 
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director - Takes ownership of the continued build out and maintenance of microservices architecture to run applications within the systems infrastructure as a service including real-time troubleshooting 
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director - Leads database optimization initiatives in SQL
  • Renewables Software Architect Team Lead / Data Engineering Director Utilize forward thinking techniques such as optimal control, deep learning, machine learning (AI/ML), and reinforcement learning to evaluate and update current protocols

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8-10+ yrs software engineering, programming, and coding experience in Python, Typescript, or JavaScript 
  • MUST have experience managing Data Engineers, Backend Engineers, Software Engineers, or Software Architects in data mapping / creation initiatives 
  • Backend software architecture development experience in production ready coding environments focused on complex projects
  • Experience in container orchestration solutions and containerization solutions utilizing applications Kubernetes or Docker
  • Advanced database optimization experience in SQL; Well versed in agile based software development methodology
  • Solid understanding convex optimization techniques (Linear/Mixed Integer programming) and time-series forecasting (PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB)
  • Solid exposure to cybersecurity best practices for software development and distributed architecture systems
  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sagemaker Machine Learning platform
  • Experience working in APIs databases like SQL, NoSQL, and RESTful 
  • HUGE PLUS - experience working in production ready coding environments in the energy trading or financial trading sector
  • HUGE PLUS - solid understanding of national energy markets and renewable energy portfolios - PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO; capacity prices, regional energy pricing, congestion and curtailment analysis, transmission constraints, interconnection assessments, LMPs (locational marginal pricing), and/or regional supply and demand curves)
  • Ideal candidates for this role will have experience working in Principal to Director level roles as Software Architect, Data Engineering Leader, Data Engineering Manager, Director of Data Engineering, Principal Data Software Engineer, Backend Developer, Back-end Engineer, Python Software Engineer, Full-stack Engineer, Fullstack Developer


Skills Required

  • 8-10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience managing Data Engineers, Backend Engineers, Software Engineers, or Software Architects
  • Backend software architecture development experience
  • Experience in container orchestration solutions like Kubernetes or Docker
  • Advanced database optimization experience in SQL
