ROLE OVERVIEW

Pivot Energy is seeking a motivated individual to join our Project Development Strategy Team and contribute towards analyzing Energy Storage in the existing and future project pipeline of Pivot Energy. This role would have a focus on market analysis, energy storage sizing, and financial modeling of energy storage projects and RFPs. This role combines aspects of mathematics, engineering, and finance. Pivot has seen a rapid growth in the number of solar + storage and standalone storage market opportunities, and this role will be a part of a growing energy storage strategy team at Pivot Energy. 

The Energy Storage Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of hybrid and standalone energy storage projects, including revenue modeling from dispatch, system sizing, and financial modeling. This role will entail collaboration with project development teams, engineering teams, and financial modeling teams at Pivot Energy. This is an opportunity to join a small team tackling a fast-growing market from within an exciting and expanding company. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop revenue projections for hybrid and standalone energy storage projects by using internal modeling tools or third-party applications
  • Use internal Excel-based financial models and internal Matlab optimization tools to determine the cost, revenues, and overall value of hybrid and energy storage projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams on detailed modeling of project parameters
  • Track opportunities and analysis requests in Pivot’s CRM tools
  • Collaborate with the Market Strategy team and Project Developers to analyze and model the potential for energy storage in new markets through quantitative analysis of sample projects using internal tools and third-party applications
  • Proactively provide feedback to different teams regarding the potential for improvements in internal tools for modeling and analysis.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to problem-solve and apply quantitative analysis and qualitative reasoning to inform strategic decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion to learn new things through self-directed study and structured settings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel; willingness to work with databases such as Salesforce
  • Experience with Matlab, MS Excel VBA, or energy modeling software

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a relevant field of expertise
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of experience in electricity markets or the energy industry. 
  • Experience in energy markets or other energy economics disciplines
  • Knowledge of renewable energy finance or energy storage dispatch modeling, or project finance concepts
  • Experience in the energy storage industry or solar industry is preferred, but not required
