ICF is seeking an Energy Industry Specialist to assist with coordinating programs, projects, events, and activities focused on cybersecurity, energy security and resilience planning with the U.S. Department of Energy. Work includes conducting research, fact finding, and analysis of energy sector policies and infrastructure.  This position also entails significant stakeholder engagement, including regular interaction with senior staff across multiple federal agencies as well as industry officials and the associations that support them.

Please note: This position is supporting our client onsite in Washington DC. If not local to the DMV area, please include your relocation date in your resume and/or cover letter for immediate consideration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities between key stakeholders including DOE, other federal agencies, and the electric and oil & gas sector industry.

  • Support technical writing and communications, including editing, reviewing, and formatting documents, and creating presentations and briefings.

  • Participate in DOE working groups and collaborate efforts across various DOE offices.

  • Manage logistics for meetings, including taking effective meeting minutes, tracking milestones and priorities, and following up on meeting action items.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in energy policy, public policy, government, communications, economics, business, or a related field and 4+ years of experience in research, writing policy, and energy (i.e., infrastructure and markets such as electricity, natural gas, and/or petroleum)

    • OR -

  • Master’s degree in energy policy, public policy, government, communications, economics, business, or a related field and 2+ years of experience in research, writing policy, and energy (i.e., infrastructure and markets such as electricity, natural gas, and/or petroleum)

  • US Citizenship

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience supporting a federal client, particularly the Department of Energy, FERC, or DHS, or working for an energy company or energy industry association.

  • Experience managing projects involving a range of internal and external stakeholders; ability to build relationships, facilitate collaboration, and support public–private coordination and cooperation.

  • Experience supporting the planning and execution of meetings, workshops, briefings, or convenings—including agenda development, speaker coordination, logistics management, and post‑event follow‑up—preferably in a government or energy sector context.

  • Experience in research, writing, policy, and energy (i.e., infrastructure and markets, including electricity, natural gas, and/or petroleum).

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$73,770.00 - $125,408.00
