Job Summary
Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a intermittent/PRN Endodontist to join our team at our Outpatient Medical Center. The successful candidate will be board-eligible/board-certified Endodontist with advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp and periradicular tissues. Highly skilled in non-surgical and surgical root canal therapy, retreatment, apicoectomy, and management of dental trauma and complex endodontic cases. Committed to evidence-based care, patient comfort, and preservation of natural dentition through the use of modern techniques and technologies, including digital imaging and operating microscopy. Recognized for strong clinical judgment, clear communication with referring providers, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care.
Essential Functions:

  • Endodontic Specialty and Dental Services
    May complete the following types of treatments directly for patients: verification of the removal of disease and decay, proper fill and restoration of endodontic accesses, post and core preparation and placement, pulp capping, pulp removal, root canal treatments, retreatments, endodontic surgeries, evaluation and management of dental trauma cases, including cracked teeth, injuries to the root or pulp, utilizes technologies such as endodontic surgical microscope, digital radiography and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to assess complex cases. Collaborates and consults with other team members within the proper scope of care. Administers anesthetics and writes prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications. Recommends endodontic armamentarium and equipment needs to meet standard of care, Collaborates with Dental Director, GPR Residency Director, Dental Practice Manager (DPM), and Patient Access Supervisor to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standard work procedures, dental coding, billing, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures patient confidentiality. Maintains accurate patient records and completes patient charts promptly. (80%)
  • Resident and Staff Clinical Supervision
    Directly supervises residents' patient care inclusive of guiding residents in their presentation of medical and dental patient history, radiographic/clinical findings, and proposed treatment prior to patient care, clinical support during dental procedures, and provides feedback and evaluation of resident performance. Assures completion of all patient record documentation in a timely manner. Collaborates on treatment planning options for the patient, understanding the limitations for residents that fall within the scope of general dentistry. Ensures GPR resident meets performance expectations and customer service standards. (10%)
  • Endodontic Rotation Management, Education, and Development
    Manages and develops a sustainable Endodontic curriculum for the GPR. Devises resident rotations with other leadership, Educates and exposes residents to endodontic literature and supports evidence-based dentistry via literature reviews. Ensures curriculum and experiences are compliant with CODA regulations. Completes ongoing evaluation of rotation goals, objectives, and outcomes assessment. Provides endodontic lectures and learning. (5%)
  • Consultation with Satellite Dental Clinic Dentists
    Consults with DH affiliate Dentists to aid in their management and care of patients with advanced specialty endodontic needs. Provides direction to dental staff. Refers patients for appropriate health care procedures with dental and medical health professionals. Communicates effectively and ensures loop closure with referrals. (5%)

Education:

  • Doctorate Degree in dentistry from a CODA accredited institution.

Work Experience:

  • Completion of Endodontic Residency from CODA Accredited Endodontic Specialty Program Required

Licenses:

  • DDS/DMD-Dentist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and
  • BLSI-Basic Life Support Instructor - AHA - American Heart Association Required
  • DEAREG-DEA Registration - DEA - Drug Enforcement Agency Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles, standard practices, and techniques of dentistry sufficient to be able to provide dental care and information regarding preventative dentistry and oral hygiene.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, and infection control standards sufficient to be able to maintain the expected level of efficiency.
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgement, and decision making in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives.
  • Skill in diagnosing dental problems and developing treatment plans.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, organizations and the public.
  • Skill in maintaining and organizing departmental records, records, reports and files.
  • Skill in adapting new information relative to the work assignment through educational seminars, meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Computer skills required.
