EMS Compliance Officer
Galveston County Health District is seeking an experienced and motivated EMS Compliance Officer to support the Galveston Area Ambulance Authority (GAAA). In this leadership role, you will oversee quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities for emergency medical and non-emergency transport services, ensuring adherence to state and federal requirements, medical protocols, and patient care standards. You will also provide supervision, training support, and quality improvement initiatives that promote excellence in patient care and operational performance. What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement EMS quality assurance programs in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director and Chief of EMS
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, protocols, and patient care standards
- Monitor patient care reports and oversee documentation quality and HIPAA compliance
- Ensure medications, equipment, supplies, and personnel certifications remain current and compliant
- Investigate patient care complaints and report findings to EMS leadership
- Recommend and support training initiatives based on quality assurance findings
- Coordinate research projects and quality improvement activities
- Supervise the EMS Quality Assurance Analyst and assist with hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
- Approve timesheets, leave requests, and personnel forms
- Collaborate with EMS leadership to promote quality improvement and employee development
- Participate in public health emergency response activities and other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- Associate degree in science, arts, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Current Texas Paramedic with at least five (5) years of EMS operations experience, including three (3) years in a leadership role overseeing an EMS team, and no unresolved DSHS complaints; OR
- Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) with at least four (4) years of full-time emergency care experience and an active Texas RN license.
- Experience managing an EMS quality assurance program and/or coordinating EMS training programs
- EMS Instructor or Coordinator certification preferred
- Knowledge of EMS protocols, medical terminology, state laws, and quality improvement principles
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Must meet immunization, background check, and drug/alcohol screening requirements
