We are seeking an experienced Counsel to join our legal team, serving as a key advisor on a wide range of employment law matters. As Counsel, you will be responsible for representing the organization and handling various employment legal matters, including complex matters, and leading projects and negotiations with specialized knowledge in employment law. You will be responsible for providing strategic counsel, advice, and legal services to human resources and management regarding business activities, transactions, projects and negotiations.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for handling and leading a variety of employment legal matters, including complex legal matters, and projects with specialized knowledge in various practice areas.
- Responsible for leading project teams and cross-functional groups on a wide range of employment legal and compliance matters.
- Provides day-to-day counseling on a broad array of employment-related issues and collaborates with business leaders and cross-functional teams to effectively mitigate employment legal risks and support corporate strategies and business objectives.
- Expertise in relevant legal practice areas and provides counsel related to those areas to business clients.
- Provides practical and actionable advice to Human Resources and management on employment legal matters, including developments and changes in laws and regulations, and develops policies and ensures compliance in those areas.
- Negotiates, drafts, and reviews legal documents and employment-related agreements to accomplish business objectives and serves as a legal advocate for the company with external constituents.
- Creates and conducts training on employment legal topics.
- Provides direction to paralegals or other team members.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree required
- PA bar or other jurisdiction appropriate bar license required
- Excellent academic credentials required
- 5 years required of significant experience in a law firm, preferably a national or major regional firm, or in-house department, preferably for a large corporation.
- 5 years of experience required as an attorney with subject matter expertise in relevant practice areas
- 5 years of experience required of complex legal document drafting, review, and negotiations.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including drafting complex legal contracts and documents.
- Responsible, accountable, client-focused person who showcases department well (e.g., responsive, knowledgeable, professional, timely) and integrates well into the larger organization.
- Good business acumen, provides creative and practical solutions to problems.
- Adept at communicating in layman’s terms and delivering alternatives and solutions in clear, concise manner.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, adaptable, flexible, and manages multiple projects and competing priorities with willingness to get their hands dirty (e.g., roll up sleeves and do the heavy lifting).
- Good at recognizing an issue, inquisitive, asks right questions and makes extra effort.
- Good business partner.
- Curious, willing to learn new areas and skills.
- Excellent legal research skills
- Technologically proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Travel 0-25%
