Location: Santa Ana, CA; 100% In-Person

Job Summary: The Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships between the company and its employees, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and providing guidance and support to both employees and management in all employee relations matters. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of labor laws and HR policies. This position requires some travel to the various regions in which Mercy House operates.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all employees and management 

  • Provide advice and guidance to management and employees on employee relations issues, including but not limited to discipline, grievances, and conflict resolution  

  • Investigate and resolve complaints and issues related to workplace conflicts, harassment, discrimination, and other employee-related matters 

  • Conduct employee relations training for management and staff  

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations 

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to employee relations  

  • Manage the employee grievance process and conduct investigations  

  • Analyze and report on employee relations trends and recommend solutions to improve employee relations and engagement 

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records 

  • Participate in HR-related projects and initiatives 

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • 1+ years of experience in employee relations, HR, or a related field 

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEO 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS software 

General 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information 

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds 

  • Standing and sitting for prolonged periods 

  • Bending and stooping to file 

Skills Required
