Role description:
This position will serve as a trusted advisor to all Arcadians, providing local expertise, proactive solutions, and quality support for all employee relations matters. This role will be reporting to the Employee Relations and Compliance Manager.
Role accountabilities:
As a member of the Local People Service team, the Employee Relations Advisor will establish trusted relationships with employees & line managers and provide front line advisory support on people initiatives, programs, or challenges. They will also collaborate with business partner community and broader people services teams to support the total employee experience within Arcadis North America (ANA). The role will work closely with the local Employee Relations & Compliance Manager to support an inclusive high performing organization, in line with the strategic people and culture direction.
In more detail, the Employee Relations Advisor will:
- Act as a key point of contact for employees & line managers on people issues
- Provide support to line managers and the People Business Partner community on people matters including (including disciplinary, grievance, performance management & employee relations investigation)
- Work with Centers of Excellence including Learning and Development, Recruitment, Strategic Workforce Planning, International HR, People Shared Services, Compensation and Benefits and Payroll to provide a wide range of People Services to stakeholders
- Work closely with the People Shared Service Centre to ensure delivery of efficient and high quality people services
- Coach, support and build capability in line managers to manage the employment relationship effectively
- Support the development and maintenance of People Policies and processes
- Coach, counsel, and guide managers with regards to People policy queries
- Provide support in grievance and disciplinary hearings
- Pro-actively monitor absence & leave and support employees and managers to facilitate return to work
- Analyze exit interviews and employee surveys and ensure feedback is provided to the business (where appropriate) with recommendations for associated interventions to improve retention.
Pro-actively monitor laws, regulations and guidelines regarding labor law and provide guidance to the business on implementation - Support change initiatives, including acquisitions, restructures, redundancies, redeployment, and office closures
- Provision and analysis of management information to the business to inform decision making
- Share knowledge and best practice with the wider People Services team to build capability
- Support key people processes ensuring that they deliver to business needs
Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate should have an academic degree (preferably in human resources) and a minimum of 4 years of progressive (human resources) experience. They should have broad experience and understand the complexity of leading people issues.
Further the candidate should have experiences with diverse and complex matrix businesses in and familiarity working within a People Shared Services & Centers of Excellence model
- Strong employee relations experience gained in high volume, transactional environments with disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence management cases
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build solid working relationships
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience of managing / supporting HR projects
- Capacity to understand how people issues impact the business and how People Services can create value for the organization
- Demonstrates integrity in all business interactions and honors personal commitments
- Ability to provide both verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively, as well as ability to influence others
- Strong organization skills are important, as well as strong attention to detail, an ability to multi task and see work through to full implementation
