About you:

You’ll be our Senior ER Adviser for Malaysia, leading employee relations, industrial relations, and performance management for our GOC Kuala Lumpur team. In this role, you’ll guide leaders on complex people matters, ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws, and manage sensitive cases with professionalism.

You’ll also support ER needs across APAC as we expand our AI-focused teams, working closely with the Global Head of ER and our regional Employee Success team to embed strong ER practices, coach leaders, and ensure our people strategies align with business and legal requirements.

Day-to-day, you will:

Employee & Industrial Relations

  • Lead ER/IR matters for GOC KL, including grievances, misconduct cases, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure all processes comply with Malaysian employment law and partner with Legal on high‑risk or litigation‑related cases.
  • Manage end‑to‑end ER processes (show cause, inquiries, terminations) and support ER escalations across APAC.
  • Maintain confidential case files and handle sensitive information in line with PDPA 2010 requirements

Performance Management

  • Coach managers on performance conversations, documentation, PIPs, and addressing underperformance.
  • Oversee formal performance improvement processes to ensure fairness and compliance.
  • Identify performance trends and recommend improvements.

Compliance & Best Practice

  • Serve as the internal expert on Malaysian employment legislation and update the business on legal changes.
  • Ensure ER policies, documentation, and case management meet compliance standards through regular audits.
  • Support internal and external audits with accurate ER case records.

Advisory, Coaching & Reporting

  • Provide pragmatic ER advice to leaders on people‑related risks and sensitive situations.
  • Deliver ER training and give real‑time guidance during live ER cases.
  • Track ER/IR metrics (case volume, resolution time, outcomes, legal costs) to identify improvements.
  • Escalate high‑risk cases to the Global Head of ER and ES Director with recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare reports on ER trends and case outcomes for leadership.

Your skills and experiences might also include:  

  • 5–7 years ER/IR experience in Malaysia with a strong track record managing complex cases from investigation to resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian employment law, including EA 1955 and IR Act 1967; experience handling Industrial Court matters is a plus.
  • Skilled investigator, able to conduct fair, thorough investigations and produce clear, legally sound reports.
  • Performance management expertise, including coaching managers, handling underperformance, and driving consistent processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
  • Sound judgment and high discretion, knowing when to apply policy and when to exercise practical judgment, with strong ethics and confidentiality.
