Shift: Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:30pm)
What You’ll Do:
Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support for employees in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting.
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
Establish, monitor, and enforce appropriate PPE and laboratory safety protocols.
Conduct routine safety inspections, risk assessments, and monthly audits; document findings and drive corrective actions.
Manage biohazardous and chemical waste programs, including proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal.
Oversee inspection, maintenance, and coordination of repairs for safety and facility equipment (e.g., BSCs, fume hoods, eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, water systems).
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analyses and implement preventive measures.
Deliver safety training and education, including new-hire laboratory safety orientations.
Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including training records, incident reports, SDS documentation, and audit reports.
Monitor regulatory changes and ensure ongoing site compliance.
Lead the site emergency response team and support emergency preparedness planning.
Chair the site Safety Committee and collaborate with cross-site and corporate EHS teams to drive continuous improvement.
Perform physically demanding tasks as needed, including waste handling, freezer maintenance, and moving or assembling laboratory equipment and furnishings.
Must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
5+ years experience working in an industrial/healthcare facilities setting
3+ years experience in an EHS-related role
Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations for laboratory work environment and personnel
Thrives in a fast-paced environment with an ability to handle time and temperature sensitive critical materials
Great communication (email & phone) and interpersonal abilities for external vendors and agencies as well as internal customers
Ability to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business
Experience using hand tools and basic understanding of electrical systems
Ability to work with cleaning supplies and chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift repeatedly for extended periods of time
Remain in standing, walking, and bending position for extended periods of time
