Northrop Grumman’s Employee Communications team seeks a creative employee communicator who is confident in being a strategic advisor, thrives on the challenge of informing and inspiring employees around business priorities and culture, loves to story tell and constantly seeks to improve through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment.
This position reports to the Employee Communications manager in Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector, and is located in McLean, VA.

In this job, you’ll:

  • Serve as the primary employee communications partner to functional leaders, providing strategic counsel, account management and proactive recommendations that advance their business and people priorities.
  • Lead efforts to inform and inspire employees across Space Systems and key functional organizations, clearly connecting their work to sector and enterprise strategy.
  • Develop and deliver high‑impact executive and employee communications, including leader messages, site visits, all-hands meetings, video content and organizational announcements.
  • Partner closely with the enterprise functional communications team, bringing Space Systems insights to shape enterprise plans and leading sector execution of enterprise functional campaigns, adapting content and cadence as needed.
  • Drive connected storytelling by proactively sourcing, shaping and elevating stories that highlight our people, technologies, performance and business capabilities.
  • Ensure all communications strategies, plans and tactics support company and sector business objectives, align with the Northrop Grumman brand and reinforce a consistent employee experience.

  • Use data and analytics to measure impact, inform recommendations and continuously improve communications plans and channel performance.
  • Enjoy owning and optimizing internal channels (intranet, newsletters, digital signage) and partnering with creative teams to develop innovative, business-focused approaches that create a cohesive employee experience.
  • Bring a positive, poised, approachable style and a deep passion for Northrop Grumman’s national defense mission and engaging employees in a shared sense of purpose.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university with six (6) years of experience successfully developing and deploying communications practices or 4 (four) years of communications experience with Master-level degree from accredited university.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Possess a high level of integrity when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
  • US Citizenship.

  • Experience in employee communications.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Affinity for developing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Strong business presence with a history of cultivating trusting relationships with multiple teams and leaders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with accuracy and composure.
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal skills and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Experience leveraging data to create and execute communications strategies, plans, programs and events.
  • Understanding of Associated Press writing style.
  • Aerospace and Defense experience.

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,800.00 - $113,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
