The Role

Disease detection through smell? That’s right. With every breath, we release a health snapshot right into the air. This is the body’s hidden language, and up until now, it’s gone unnoticed. We're changing that. Inspired by nature and with a boost from NASA, we’ve developed the world’s first fully-integrated diagnostic breathalyzer. It’s capable of decoding these health signals in real-time and at any point-of-care. We’re bringing the sense of smell to the forefront of medicine and welcoming a new era of healthcare.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of medical device technology, contributing to innovative diagnostic solutions. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with a passion for quality and reliability in healthcare technology.

Here’s exactly who thrives at Noze:

  • Aligned. This is the place for go-getters who are ambitious. We value visionaries who are all in for exponential growth and committed to making a big impact.
  • Collaborative. We believe success is a team sport. Our people thrive on collaboration, embrace feedback, and are committed to continuous improvement.
  • Driven. We're not the kind to wait for directions—we take the initiative and push projects forward. We are high performers who are proactive, own their work, and consistently strive for excellence.

Who You Are:

As a passionate and skilled Embedded Systems Engineer at Noze, you’ll help usher in a new era of breath based diagnostics by building robust electronic systems that powers our DiagNoze platform.  As an ideal candidate you will have hands-on experience in both the design and development of embedded hardware systems and have experience working with the firmware team to ensure seamless integration and functionality. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to drive the development of cutting-edge products that digitize the sense of smell. If you are passionate about embedded systems, firmware, and pushing technological boundaries, this role is a perfect fit.

Your expertise in both firmware and hardware enables holistic system development, while your analytical thinking and creativity drive robust, data-driven solutions. Your commitment to documentation, problem-solving, and continuous innovation will be crucial in advancing our groundbreaking projects and contributing to the team's success in transforming healthcare technology.

What You'll Do:

As a key member of our technology team at Noze, you'll be instrumental in the development and validation of our various hardware systems. This includes our main sensing technology, but also peripheral devices for the various teams working to build our devices. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of embedded hardware systems, including Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulation, and testing to ensure the hardware meets functionality and performance requirements.
  • Conduct electronic noise analysis and implement strategies to mitigate noise in sensor response data and the measurement systems.
  • Perform testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of hardware and firmware to resolve technical issues and ensure product reliability.
  • Work with PCB manufacturers, ensuring that design specifications are accurately communicated and deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with the firmware team to define hardware-software interfaces and ensure smooth firmware development for embedded systems.
  • Conduct hardware architecture design, component selection, and system-level integration, with a focus on optimizing firmware-hardware integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., mechanical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams) to drive hardware development and system integration.
  • Manage procurement, inventory, and distribution of electronic components, ensuring smooth production workflows.
  • Design and implement firmware tests, ensuring robust validation and seamless functionality between hardware and firmware.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including schematics, design specifications, test reports, and firmware design documentation.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems hardware development, with a focus on creating high performance embedded systems.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Strong expertise in designing and analyzing both analog and digital circuits for embedded systems and electronic devices.
    • Proficiency in PCB layout, design, and fabrication, using the tools like Altium Designer.
    • Proficiency in hardware simulation tools such as SPICE for circuit analysis and optimization.
    • Experience with hardware-software integration and a strong focus on testing and validating embedded systems.
    • Experience or knowledge in CMOS integration and MEMS is a plus.
    • Experience in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting PCBs and embedded systems using tools such as oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
    • Proficiency in programming for microcontrollers and embedded systems, with experience in C/C++ for firmware development.
    • Experience with signal processing techniques and electronic noise mitigation in measurement systems.
    • Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation, including schematics, technical specifications, and test reports.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and manufacturing partners.

    What we offer:

    • The opportunity to join a forward-thinking company with a collaborative team of innovative thinkers.
    • A rewarding career path with diverse opportunities for professional growth.
    • A competitive compensation and benefits package, including employer-paid health and dental benefits for eligible employees.
    • A generous learning and development budget for conferences, classes, and other professional development events.
