Located close to key design and manufacturing sites, they also work directly with our field engineering team to understand customer needs and implement and verify critical changes to Cirrus software solutions to enable rapid time to market. As part of our factory-based software development organization, they work closely with our US- and UK-based development teams to enable exciting new technologies that are reshaping today’s PC user experience.
Our engineering organization is increasingly embracing AI-assisted software development to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and development velocity. We are looking for engineers who are comfortable leveraging modern AI coding assistants and natural language-driven development workflows while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, and debugging skills.
Responsibilities
- Customize Windows/Linux device drivers and associated tools for customer platforms.
- APO (Audio Processing Object) or DSP offload integration or development.
- Deploy new features, updates, and bug fixes to customers.
- Triage, reproduce, and debug customer-reported issues.
- Support customer integration of Cirrus Windows/Linux device drivers.
- Review customer schematics from a software & driver perspective.
- Set up new devices and reference platforms.
- Work closely with Cirrus factory- and field-applications teams to support customer engagements.
- Collaborate with other teams such as Design, Firmware, SQA, and Tools as necessary.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, code reviews, documentation, and root cause analysis while ensuring production-quality software.
- Utilize natural language-driven development workflows to rapidly prototype utilities, automation scripts, test tools, and engineering solutions where appropriate.
- Contribute to improving engineering productivity by identifying opportunities to automate repetitive development, testing, and integration tasks using AI-powered tooling.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience deploying audio device drivers across multiple operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.) on Intel, AMD, or ARM-based platforms.
- Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of recent experience designing audio applications or working extensively with Audio Processing Object (APO) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms.
- Ability to communicate and work highly effectively across geographies, internal groups, and with external customers and partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with kernel software development, Windows/Linux driver integration, PC system bring-up, and ACPI.
- Experience with OS architectural challenges including race conditions, synchronization, deadlocks, and interrupt management.
- Familiarity with serial buses and protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, I2S, HDA, SoundWire).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using software (automated tests, logs, debuggers), hardware (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, DMMs), and other resources (schematics and data sheets).
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar) to improve software development efficiency, debugging, code generation, documentation, and test creation.
- Ability to effectively translate natural language requirements into maintainable software implementations, automation scripts, or engineering tooling while validating correctness and software quality.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals with the ability to critically evaluate, verify, and refine AI-generated code before production use.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience developing automation tools using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience building engineering productivity tools or automated validation frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding workflows, prompt engineering, or agentic development environments.
