We are looking for a curious-minded and passionate Embedded Software Engineer to join our team.
Required
- 5+ years' experience of C software development in an embedded environment
- Proven ability to work autonomously from task specification through to completion with minimal supervision
- Experience developing low level software on microcontrollers e.g. STM32, NXP LPC, NXP i.MX/i.MX RT, Renesas
- Experience developing code for systems based on an RTOS (FreeRTOS, Thread X, etc)
- An understanding of Digital Electronics and how to interface hardware with firmware
- Strong commitment to code quality: well-structured and well-commented modular approach.
- Experience with unit testing frameworks and methodologies for embedded systems
- Experience of analogue to digital signal sampling and processing techniques
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of the software development lifecycle from concept to production, and into maintenance
- Good university degree (or equivalent), ideally in computer science or electronic engineering, although other graduates would be considered if you have relevant experience
Desirable
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices
- Experience with CMake build system
- Experience of C++ in an embedded environment
- Experience of building test harness applications using Python
- Familiar with writing manual and automated test cases
- Experience in low level interfaces, particularly CAN
- Working experience in wireless communications, particularly for HTTPS and WebSockets over cellular and WiFi
- Familiar with Agile principles and best practices such as peer review, pair programming etc
- Experience with code optimization techniques for embedded systems
What you'll do:
- Design, Code and Test firmware for embedded systems
- Contribute to the improvement of the structure and design of the codebase for future scalability
- Maintain released products.
- Provide third-level support. Debug and identify root-causes with a variety of hardware and firmware issues
- Build and maintain an automated testing harness for embedded system devices
- Create and execute manual and automated test cases using Ohme’s test case management system
