Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of space-powered Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are fundamentally changing the design, economics, manufacturing, coverage limitations and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.
By building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system—with a unique antenna design, highly sustainable spacecraft system and low-cost, small portable end-user devices—we can extend global satellite coverage, capacity and connectivity beyond legacy space services to provide a new kind of IoT platform that lets users sense, track, connect and act on information gathered, anywhere.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to saving space, protecting our planet and turning connectivity into actionable intelligence.
The Embedded Software Engineer focusing on embedded platforms like state-of-the-art SOCs or MCU (Microcontroller Unit) development is essential for advancing our LEO satellite communication products. Your expertise will drive the development of reliable, real-time and efficient embedded software, ensuring the success and performance of our products. This role is vital for delivering high-quality solutions that meet the stringent requirements of our applications. This position will report to the Head of Systems Engineering and Advanced Projects and will be based in our Toulouse, France office.
What you will be doing
- Designing, developing, and testing optimized embedded software for MCUs integrated in a SoC (FPGA and/or ASIC) applied to advanced communications products, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Collaborating with hardware engineers to define software requirements and ensure seamless integration with hardware components.
- Implementing low-level drivers and firmware for various MCU peripherals and interfaces (e.g. UART, I2C, SPI, GPIO, PCIe, USB, Ethernet).
- Conducting code reviews, performance analysis, and optimization to ensure software quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and debugging embedded software issues, providing technical support to other teams as needed.
- Documenting software designs, implementation details, and test results to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Staying updated with the latest advancements in MCU technologies and embedded software development practices.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our embedded software development processes and methodologies.
- Assisting other team members with debugging and problem solving using efficient debugging techniques.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role, as may reasonably be requested by the line manager to support departmental goals.
What you bring to this role
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a strong background in embedded systems and MCU development.
- Proven experience in developing and testing embedded real-time software for MCUs integrated in a SoC (FPGA and/or ASIC) for communication products.
- Previous experience on ARM Cortex M/R and/or PowerPC e200 series processors
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly languages for MCUs for either Linux, RTOS or Bare-Metal environments
- Experience in programming efficient low-speed and high-speed data interfaces for intra and inter processor communications.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and low-level programming.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex embedded software issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in documenting and sharing technical knowledge, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
- A proactive and innovative approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in embedded software development.
- At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
While we welcome candidates with global experience, please note that English is the language we conduct our business in, and application submissions will need to be in English or both English and French to be reviewed by our global team.
