The Embedded Software Engineer III is responsible for Development of firmware, embedded software on ARM architecture for projects comprising robotics/hardware interfaces, feedback/feed-forward control system design, Real time operating systems. Be a key contributor on the firmware engineering team that leads the development of firmware/embedded software for commercial products and in-house research. This position is part of the Firmware Engineering and will be located in Sunnyvale, California. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Work with multi-discipline teams on new product introduction projects while adhering to software development and source control processes.
• Develop software and driver modules that are critical to the functioning of company’s medical devices/instruments.
• Prototype, design, implement and maintain firmware & software applications.
• Drive root cause analyses in a product development, production, and post-production context.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical Engineering with 5+ years relevant experience or master’s degree in computer science or electrical Engineering with 3+ years relevant experience in real-time embedded systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
• Experienced C, C++ programmer with experience in real-time / embedded system design, debug, and testing in an Embedded Linux / RTOS environment.
• Experience in developing embedded applications for ARM, X86 architectures is required.
• Experience in embedded interfaces like USB, SPI, I2C, UART and other communication interfaces such as CAN, TCP/IP, UDP, serial.is required.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, threading and data structures, debugging skills and familiarity in using debuggers, scopes/logic analyzers are required.

• It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Medical device or regulated industry experience very desirable
• Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB and Python

The salary range for this role is 150,000-160,000 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
