Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Implements software to run optimally on SoC devices and SBCs.
  • Analyzes product requirements and contributes to engineering tradeoff decisions.
  • Tests and adapts industrial sensing devices and protocols to standard interfaces of a proprietary IIoT platform.
  • Tests, documents, debugs and maintains stable firmware.
  • Works with product and app dev teams to meet business requirements.
  • Analyzes and defines requirements to determine specifications, standards, and tests solutions.
  • Trains users and writes training manuals.
  • Manages user support and feedback.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves software defects and issues.
  • Participates in system integration and testing activities.
  • Maintains documentation for software design, implementation, and user guides.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the continuous improvement of our products.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:

Essential KSAs:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of firmware development, wireless networks, messaging protocols, hardware interfaces, interface protocols and signal processing.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable KSAs:

  • Knowledge of basic electronics / micro-electronics, PCB design.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages.
  • Prior experience working with embedded software.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:                                                                                                 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; and talk or hear.  The employee is also required to use a telephone with headset for verbal troubleshooting, frequent use of a standard keyboard and computer to document calls in a ticketing system, and occasional use of other office equipment.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 30 pounds.  The employee is occasionally required to sit for long periods and use close and color vision.  Work is typically performed in a moderately noisy business office.
