The Core Technologies Media Team is responsible for developing the next-generation video encoder technologies. Today, we are a team of 13 video engineers, organized into three functional teams: Core Video, Video Algorithms, and Video for Cloud & Connectivity.

You’ll work closely with experts who share your passion for innovation. Together, we cover a broad set of requirements and collaborate with many stakeholders within the Axis organization.

About the Role

We are looking for both junior and senior engineers to join our team.

As an engineer in our Core Technologies Media Team, you'll have the opportunity to dive deep into the world of video encoding and embedded firmware development. Your responsibilities will include:

• Technology Investigation and Requirements Setting: Conducting feasibility studies and proof-of-concept development to validate new ideas and technologies.
• Programming and Implementation: Programming in C/C++, Python, and other relevant languages to create high-performance, efficient, and high-quality code.
• Algorithm and Architecture Development: Designing and implementing new features and architectures, ensuring they meet the defined requirements, standards, and performance targets.
• Collaboration and Integration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into our products and systems.
• Problem-Solving and Innovation: Identifying and resolving complex technical issues, driving innovation in video technology.

Your Background: Who Are You?

We’re looking for driven, problem-solving, and passionate individuals who thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment.

You bring:

• Experience in embedded firmware development, preferably in a Linux environment.
• Skills in C/C++ programming and low-level development (device drivers), with the ability to debug and solve complex challenges.
• Skills in scripting languages such as Python or similar.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills—able to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
• A genuine interest in staying current with new technologies and trends.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• A master’s degree in computer science or a related field.

It’s a plus if you have:

• Knowledge of video encoding standards (for example H.264, H.265, and AV1) and streaming frameworks.
• Experience with specific tools or methodologies relevant to the role.
