Position Title: Elementary Programs Facilitator – Onsite and Offsite
Location: Goleta Valley Center &/or School-Based Programming (Lunchtime Club)
Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time or Part-Time
Reports to: Elementary Programs Manager
Pay Range: $19.50–$22.00/hour

Position Summary:

Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara is seeking dynamic, creative, and nurturing facilitators to lead intentional, hands-on programming for elementary-aged girls. This position supports both our Goleta Valley Center and school-based sites throughout Santa Barbara.

Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through research-backed programming and mentorship in a pro-girl environment. Facilitators play a vital role in cultivating confidence, curiosity, and community among participants by designing and leading engaging lessons that develop physical, academic, and life skills.

The ideal candidate brings a passion for youth development, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to create a safe, structured, and joyful learning environment.

Facilitators can work full-time or part-time, with flexible scheduling options. Opportunities range from consistent weekday hours (Monday–Friday), to as few as two days per week. We are also hiring facilitators who are interested in working exclusively with our Lunchtime Club, a mid-day program offered at local elementary schools.

  

Key Responsibilities:

Program Facilitation

  • Facilitate activities across Girls Inc.’s Core Essential Services: Healthy Living, Academic Enrichment & Support, and Life Skills.
  • Lead programming in content areas such as STEM, literacy, visual and performing arts, sports, cooking, outdoor exploration, and SEL (social-emotional learning).
  • Supervise a consistent group of up to 14 girls, promoting positive group dynamics and emotional and physical safety.
  • Cultivate a pro-girl environment that promotes inclusivity, empowerment, and growth.

Program Preparation 

  • Prepare weekly lesson plans aligned with Girls Inc. outcomes and adapted to group needs.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records at school-based programs
  • Keep programming areas organized and ensure materials are well maintained.

Mentorship & Youth Development

  • Serve as a consistent, positive role model who fosters trust, curiosity, and resilience.
  • Build strong relationships with girls that support their identity development and social-emotional well-being.

Team Collaboration & Family Engagement

  • Work closely with program team and volunteers to provide a safe, enriching experience for all girls.
  • Interact with families in a welcoming, respectful manner.
  • Participate  in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events.

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1–2 years of experience working with children (ages 6–13) in a classroom, camp, or youth development setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and group/classroom management.
  • Creative and confident in planning and leading group activities.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Education, Child Development, Social Work, or      related field.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Experience supporting social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices.

  

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Active youth programming environment with indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to move throughout the site, participate in physical activities, and lift/move up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional off-site field trips or school events may require travel within Santa Barbara County.
