Salary up to £50,400 (£42,000 + 20% shift allowance) depending on experience
Renishaw are offering an exciting opportunity with responsibility for the creation of prototype printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). The prototyping environment is dynamic, small batch, fast turn-around. It caters for a wide range of technologies & materials and employs a mixture of automated and manual build and validation processes.
This position will give the right candidate a chance to make their mark and a significant contribution to Renishaw’s new product introduction (NPI) process and time to market though the support of rapid design iteration.
This is a hands-on position and needs a practical engineer with the ability to problem-solve and adjust approach in real-time while ensuring that a high quality of delivered product suitable for the critical design evaluation work. The responsibilities of this position include:
Rapid design for assembly assessment to identify processing risks
Process planning
Design data translation and equipment programming
PCB assembly using advanced manual build / soldering skills
Semi and fully automated process equipment operation (paste deposition, surface mount pick & place, solder reflow)
Problem solving and course-correction where needed to meet tight deadlines
IPC inspection & release (visual and X-ray)
Engineering process review and continuous improvement
Clearly candidates with PCB assembly / process creation experience will have an advantage but if you consider yourself a capable engineering problem-solver looking for a development opportunity in a fascinating and challenging role then we still want to hear from you.
Key requirements
The minimum of a degree level of education (2:1 or above) in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. electronics engineering, manufacturing systems, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics etc.) or HNC/HND level education plus relevant experience
A high level of PC literacy
Desirable requirements
Printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process / production experience (surface mount (SMT) and / or plated-through hole _PTH) technology
Successful application of structured problem-solving techniques
Person specification
Ability to work well in both a team, sharing ideas and coordinating actions, as well as autonomously, managing your own activities and meeting deadlines.
