The role of the Electronics Design Engineer is to design and develop custom Printed Circuit Board (PCB) prototypes for various robotic applications. Key responsibilities include performing analog circuit analysis, selecting components, conducting schematic capture, prototyping, verification, debugging and testing. The role also involves improving existing PCB designs and performing root cause analyses of failures to optimize performance.
This role includes, among others:
- Design, develop, and test Printed Circuit Board (PCB) prototypes and custom hardware solutions in accordance with project specifications.
- Perform analog electronic circuit simulations using SPICE software.
- Lead component selection, analysis, prototyping, verification, debugging, documentation, and testing activities.
- Conduct constraint-driven, high-frequency, and low-noise multi-layer PCB designs.
- Perform root cause analysis of failures, present findings, and provide feedback to optimize existing designs.
- Verify functionality and performance of new designs using laboratory test equipment, custom instrumentation, and test setups.
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on PCB designs to evaluate and quantify Performance Levels (PL) of safety-related functions dependent on hardware reliability.
- Develop test plans to validate electronic systems against design requirements and specifications.
- Perform PCB rework to support testing and failure analysis activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including software, firmware, mechanical, integration, and testing engineers.
- Gain exposure to all stages of the design cycle, from initial concept and specification through implementation, testing, documentation, and support.
