Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.

In this position...
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of vehicle electrical hardware systems and architecture across various vehicle subsystems dynamics and propulsion, body, thermal, passive safety, and more. You will support the complete end-to-end integration of hardware components and will be working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support product design, vehicle behaviors definition, prototype bring-up, and debugging, ensuring the seamless functionality and performance of all systems throughout the product lifecycle. You will conceptualize, design, engineer, and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles.

This role is highly cross-functional and blends desk work with hands-on lab and vehicle time. The position is based in the Long Beach office and may include occasional travel.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Bring up new components hands-on across benches, bucks, labcars, and vehicles — build the harness and power setup, instrument the part, and characterize it before it reaches a vehicle
  • Perform component- and system-level characterization testing on labcars and vehicles, validating the physical interfaces
  • Debug hardware failures from first principles with a scope and current probe, isolating root cause across component, harness, connector, driver circuit, and software
  • Develop prototype subsystem hardware assemblies that unblock early software and feature development
  • Integrate production and off-the-shelf hardware into purpose-built prototype systems, delivering quick-turnaround solutions that support future program development
  • Review supplier hardware deliverables and reproduce and document discrepancies in the lab
  • Write and execute integration test plans covering discrete component and network behavior across relevant voltage and environmental conditions
  • Support electrical validation at vehicle build and end-of-line, and help resolve plant issues traced to component or harness hardware
  • Decompose vehicle behavior into system and device requirements in JAMA, maintaining traceability from requirement to measured result
Qualifications

You'll have...

  • B.S in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working on complex electrical systems or electronics designs
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts
  • Hands-on proficiency with electrical test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, current probes, power supplies, data loggers)
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with creating and executing component and system level test procedures
  • Experience with requirements capture in requirements management software platforms (JAMA, etc)
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
  • A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

Even better, you may have...

  • Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, etc.)
  • Experience with hardware definition and integration of body electronics
  • Familiarity with python and/or other scripting languages
  • Experience with electrical / electro-mechanical devices involving networked microcontrollers and embedded software
  • Experience with vehicle or embedded communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, or similar networked systems.
  • Proven ability to develop traceable electrical hardware and system level requirements from high-level features to implementation specifications
  • Advanced vehicle architecture or experience with EV prototype development, Labcars, HIL benches, and vehicle-level electrical integration.
