The Role
Designs, develops, integrates, tests, debugs, and supports high- and low-power analog and digital controllers for aerospace environmental control and flight-control actuator systems. Responsibilities include power electronics, motor control, circuit design, simulation, EMI/EMC compliance, safety-critical certification, obsolescence resolution, in-service issue support, and technical reviews. The engineer may also plan tasks, prepare schedules and estimates, resolve customer technical issues, and identify product cost-reduction opportunities.

Control Systems develops the thermal and motion control systems that help aircraft take off, land safely and protect the people on board. JD- Senior Advanced Electrical Engineer

Electrical & Electronics engineer accountable for design, development, integration and testing of controllers for high and low power digital and analog controls used in control systems of environmental control systems and flight control actuator systems.  Required to perform Power Electronics, Motor Control, Analog & Digital circuit design, analysis, simulation, testing, obsolescence resolution, debugging in-service issues and HW product development & support activities as a member of motion controls product team. Additional responsibilities may include task planning, preparation of schedules and estimates, resolving technical problems with the customer, and leading technical design / reviews with both internal & external customers.

Masters or Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in hardware-based product design for safety critical systems (aerospace, automotive). Work experience as a member of a design team taking product from concept to production is preferred. 
  • Understanding of industry and regulatory standards and guidelines for safety critical systems. Familiarity with Military and Aerospace Standards is preferred.
  • Experience with design and hardware Implementation of Motor Controllers preferred. High power electronics Design (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC converters) 
  • Design experience for complying EMI/EMC in power electronics application and preferable to have exposure to RF Conducted and Radiated Emissions/Susceptibility Testing. 
  • Thorough knowledge of power electronic devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, etc) and gate drivers.
  • Simulation and modeling using industry standard tools
  • Analog and Digital design experience include Microcontrollers, FPGAs and DSPs.
  • Must be well-versed with applicable certification standards such as DO-254, DO-160, IEC and leading reviews with customers. 
  • Must be well skilled to identify cost take-out opportunities in field products
  • Team player - able to work in cross functional team with minimum supervision.
  • Clear & concise communication skills - verbal & written; capable technical writing skills desired.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience designing hardware-based products for safety-critical systems, preferably aerospace or automotive
  • Understanding of industry and regulatory standards for safety-critical systems
  • Experience designing and implementing motor controllers
  • Experience with high-power electronics design, including AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters
  • Experience designing for EMI/EMC compliance in power electronics applications
