BGIS is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Designer to join the team in Remote, US.

Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineering Designer is a professional services key position working with various engineering disciplines and project management team. This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager. The Electrical Engineering Designer will work on electrical system designs on various projects within a versatile team where all abilities are put to good use. Electrical engineering designs will include base building electrical building systems, electrical tenant design, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure design at new and existing facilities. The Electrical Engineering Designer demonstrates BGIS values.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage scope and deliverables of Electrical Engineering Design function.
- Manage CAD deliverables and management of CAD staff deliverables.
- Conduct request processes with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Contribute to design, analysis, and problem-solving activities.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Conduct site visits independently for simple scopes of work.
- Manage low to medium-sized projects with the supervision of senior staff.
- Submit quality deliverables with a high degree of accuracy.
General Duties and Expectations:
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, facility management and technicians to develop detailed design related to various architectural, mechanical, and electrical projects.
- Electrical design to support the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
- Electrical design to support tenant fit up and equipment upgrades.
- Support the designs from project initiation to completion by providing equipment selections, cost and timing, estimates, reports, design specifications and drawings for building electrical systems including power distribution, connection to utilities, lighting, controls, emergency power, life-safety systems, fire alarms, electrical vehicle charging infrastructure, and renewable power generation and storage.
- Apply engineering principles to assigned tasks.
- Schedule critical follow up meetings and communicate effectively with team members including project team and manager updates on tasks delivery status and capacity.
- Complete basic engineering tasks (load calculations, cable/conduit sizing, breaker sizing, etc.) for basic applications independently.
- Utilize a strong understanding of the design process in completing multiple work activities.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in electrical design/engineering.
- Familiar with Electrical Codes and Local Building Codes.
- Experience in engineering consulting, customer interface, and project management of engineering design projects.
- Expertise in project details, deliverables and ability to support project planning and execution.
- Strong understanding of the engineering environment in electrical sector.
- Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail.
- Engineering and construction of building and site electrical, power, lighting and life safety systems (fire alarm, etc).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills applicable to working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to manage competing priorities with strong organizational skills in fast paced environment and work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other team members with strong interpersonal skills and proactive approach.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstration of reliability and increased independence in completing work.
- Proficient with MS Office suite and computer tools.
- Knowledge of building mechanical systems would be an asset.
- Multi-lingual capabilities is a plus.
