Our motion control group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team to help develop new products and provide engineering support to address production issues and customer technical challenges. We strive to make Copley motor drives the most innovative in the industry and employ a wide variety of technologies including high speed networking, digital signal processing with FPGA’s, precision analog signal conditioning and high efficiency power conversion to achieve that goal.
The ideal candidate is a team player who is interested in bringing innovative products to market and in developing their skills for designing analog, power, and digital electronics.
Responsibilities:
- Design PCB-level mixed analog/digital, interface and power electronic circuits to meet product specification and cost requirements
- Create bills of materials, schematics, drawings, and engineering change orders using Agile (Product Lifecycle Management tool) to fully document production-ready designs
- Perform and document engineering analyses, write test plans and specifications
- Conduct performance, design verification and similar tests and author test reports to document results and conclusions
- Provide technical input in support of the production of customer-oriented documents like datasheets, user guides and application notes
- Help to plan and conduct compliance and reliability testing
- Provide engineering support to help resolve production and customer technical issues as needed
Qualifications:
- A BS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of direct, PCB-level, design experience with μC/FPGA based systems containing mixed signal, interface and power conversion circuitry. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as an enthusiastic, accountable, and collaborative member of the Motion team
- Proficiency with laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies and multi-meters
- Working knowledge of PCB design tools (OrCAD Capture, PADS or Allegro)
- Familiarity with EMC, Electrical Safety and Functional Safety standards and requirements
- Experience with motor drives or motion control systems is a plus
