Job Summary:
Salas O’Brien is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a focus in power distribution.
Specific design related services include:
- Primary and Secondary Power Distribution Systems
- Emergency Power
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
- Facility Assessments
- Lighting Design
- Sustainable Design Technologies
- Electrical System Commissioning
- Energy Savings Audits and Life Cycle Cost Analysis
- Infrastructure Master Planning
- System Documentation
- Technology Engineering (video, security, data and computer room systems, intercom, and fire alarm)
- Power System Studies
Job duties include:
- Participate in and support design and/or coordination reviews with clients and other project team members.
- Collaborate with and support engineers and project managers from a wide array of disciplines across various projects.
- Support the review and development of project design standards and best practices.
- Work closely with vendors to support vendor-submitted data for technical reviews and production.
- Oversee assigned project efforts to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
- Perform Power System Studies, including time current coordination, short circuit studies and arc flash hazard analysis.
- Ensure that the electrical design on projects conform to the requirements of the applicable codes; including National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and the International Building Code and International Energy Code
- Effectively utilize computer design software and have a working knowledge of 3-D Modeling/BIM software for design producing construction drawings, and for construction coordination modeling.
- Travel out of town or out of the United States from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent
- A working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, LEED Accredited Professional, SKM Powertools, are preferred but not required at the time of hire.
