Job Purpose
The Electronic Design Engineer is responsible for the specification, design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of electronic systems for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). The role supports the complete product development lifecycle, ensuring reliable, safe, and cost-effective electronic solutions that meet customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
The engineer will collaborate closely with Mechanical, Software, Systems, Manufacturing, and Quality, Fleet Management and Project Realisation teams to deliver innovative robotic solutions for industrial automation environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design the electrical architecture of new mobile robot platforms.
Define criteria for power distribution, control, protections, wiring and communications.
Select electrical and electronic components in line with functional and regulatory requirements.
Prepare technical documentation, schematics and bills of materials.
Coordinate integration with software, automation, mechanics and manufacturing.
Participate in prototyping, testing, validation and continuous design improvement.
Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement to ensure industrialisation and production feasibility.
Support compliance with applicable standards and regulations (CE, EMC, Functional Safety, Machinery Regulation, etc.).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar qualification.
Specialisation in electrical engineering, industrial electronics and automation.
More than 10 years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial automation, product development and mobile robotics environments.
Proven experience in R&D electrical development for AGV/AMR systems, both for product and project applications.
Experience throughout the full project cycle: electrical design, component selection, technical documentation, commissioning support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Practical experience in diagnosing and resolving complex issues both internally and at customer sites.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in electronics, software, mechanics, control and manufacturing.
Experience in technical leadership or responsibility for electrical projects is an advantage.
Technical Knowledge
Design and validation of onboard electrical architectures for AGV/AMR mobile robotic platforms.
Preparation of electrical and hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
Proficiency with electrical design tools: EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical.
Experience with PLC systems and industrial technologies, especially Siemens and Beckhoff.
Knowledge of industrial protocols and networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet/Profisafe and CANopen.
Experience with AC/DC and DC/DC converters, variable speed drives, servo motors, Li-ion batteries and BMS systems.
Integration of laser scanners, photoelectric sensors and RFID systems.
Ability in component selection, electrical integration, system validation and field technical support.
Functional Safety for mobile robots (ISO 3691-4).
Languages
Spanish: Native or professional proficiency.
English: Minimum B1 level or equivalent, with the ability to:
Actively participate in technical meetings and conference calls.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, presentations, and engineering documentation.
