Job Summary

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to support the continued development, integration, and field testing of the SensXR system—a modular, multi-threat detection platform. This engineer will contribute to the full lifecycle of embedded hardware, including circuit design, signal conditioning, sensor interfacing, and power optimization. The ideal candidate will be proficient in simulation and modeling tools to support iterative prototyping and rigorous system validation in support of DoD CBRNE applications.

Specific Responsibilities

Sensor & Circuit Integration:

  • Design, simulate, and validate electronic subsystems for gas, radiation, GPS, and compute modules. Interface analog and digital sensors with embedded processors, while ensuring EMI/EMC compliance and environmental durability.
  • Power Systems Engineering:
  • Develop and optimize low-power battery-operated systems using both internal and external configurations. Implement efficient power regulation and battery management systems for wearable platforms.
  • Embedded Systems & RF Communications:
  • Integrate and optimize communication modules. Develop and simulate custom PCB designs for embedded applications.
  • Modeling & Simulation:
  • Utilize MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm prototyping and system-level simulation. Use PSpice or equivalent SPICE tools for transient and steady-state circuit analysis. Employ Altium Designer for schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout.
  • Prototyping & Rapid Development:
  • Support iterative development of compact and ruggedized electronics suitable for tactical field deployment. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure enclosure and cable routing compatibility.
  • AR Display & HMI Integration:
  • Assist in the electrical interface between the SensXR modules and AR devices via USB-C, power-over-cable, or wireless systems, ensuring reliable power and data interfacing.
  • Field Support & Data Validation:
  • Participate in field exercises to validate system performance under real-world stressors including temperature, humidity, and vibration. Gather and analyze sensor logs, power draw, and communication fidelity.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Produce detailed design documentation, test procedures, wiring schematics, and SOPs.
