This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.The Emerging Systems business unit at Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop, integrate, and test the electronics that drive, and power fiber and laser amplifiers used in space optical communication links. You'll work closely with photonics, firmware, and systems engineers to take optical links from concept to orbit.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design & Development
- Design, develop, and test control, power, and data acquisition electronics for fiber/laser amplifier systems
- Define electrical specifications and interfaces; ensure seamless integration with optical and mechanical components
- Own electrical artifacts (schematics, PCB layouts, drawings), BOMs, and build/test procedures
- Design for manufacturability and reliability; optimize for space constraints (volume, mass, thermal)
Testing & Integration
- Bring boards through prototype, verification, qualification, and production
- Set up and operate lab/test equipment to characterize components and assemblies; analyze performance data
- Troubleshoot mixed signal, power, and communication issues between embedded devices, controllers, and sensors
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and participate in design reviews, drive product improvements and cost reductions
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure components and boards meet specifications and quality standards
- Work cross-functionally with optical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure integrated system performance
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Electronics Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of board level design experience (power electronics, analog/digital/mixed signal, precision control)
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) • Hands-on experience with lab instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum/network analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
- Familiarity with RF pattern generation circuits design (e.g., PRBS, white noise)
- Experience with data acquisition and sensor interfacing; ability to debug mixed signal systems
- Track record delivering high reliability electronics through full product lifecycle in aerospace or similar instrumentation industry
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work independently and cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in embedded software/firmware for microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation, high speed digital design, and precision analog
- Understanding of laser/photonics systems and fiber amplifier controls
- Experience with space-qualified electronics and radiation-hardened components
- Knowledge of applicable aerospace standards for electronic design
- Experience with thermal management techniques for electronics in vacuum environments
- Familiarity with optical communication systems and technologies

Compensation Range for:
