The Electrical Engineer - Substation PMC is responsible for monitoring and overseeing EHV/HV substation construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities from site readiness through energization readiness. The role focuses on governance, quality surveillance, progress monitoring, interface coordination, and compliance verification while execution remains the responsibility of the EPC contractor.

ore Duties & Responsibilities

Construction & Installation Monitoring

  1. Monitor site readiness and installation activities for transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, reactors, control and relay panels, busbars, cable systems, earthing systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  2. Verify compliance of installation works with approved drawings, technical specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and project quality requirements.
  3. Monitor cable laying, termination, glandings, control wiring, panel erection, equipment alignment, and associated electrical works.
  4. Coordinate installation interfaces with Civil Engineers, Transmission Line Engineers, Utility/Grid Coordinators, HSE teams, and Commissioning Engineers.

Testing & Commissioning Readiness

  1. Witness allocated factory/site acceptance tests, pre-commissioning checks, and electrical testing activities.
  2. Verify testing readiness documentation, approved procedures, punch-list closure, and availability of required statutory approvals.
  3. Monitor protection system testing, interlock verification, SCADA integration, control system readiness, and communication interfaces.
  4. Review commissioning schedules and identify constraints impacting energization milestones.

Compliance & Governance

  1. Track statutory approvals, utility interfaces, grid compliance requirements, and regulatory submissions affecting energization readiness.
  2. Monitor implementation of safety procedures, permit systems, LOTO requirements, and HSE compliance during construction and testing activities.
  3. Verify completion dossiers, as-built documentation, inspection records, test reports, and handover documentation.

Reporting & Status Management

  1. Maintain substation completion status, punch lists, testing progress, statutory approvals, and energization readiness records.
  2. Prepare progress reports, risk registers, issue logs, and management dashboards for client review.
  3. Escalate quality, safety, schedule, and technical risks impacting project objectives.
