Bell Group is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the
construction supervision of electrical
systems for heavy industrial and port infrastructure facilities in Dar es
Salaam (Port Zone Development). Our client is engaged in a large-scale industrial
infrastructure project in the East African region.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on
experience in field supervision, testing & commissioning, and quality
assurance — with strict adherence to international electrical codes and
standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the execution of electrical works including MV/LV cabling, transformers, switchgear,
control panels, grounding systems, lighting, and power distribution networks.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and ITPs in
accordance with international standards.
- Ensure all construction works are performed in compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEC, or BS
standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and testing agencies to validate proper installation,
configuration, and commissioning of electrical systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor installation quality, workmanship, and alignment with
design intent.
- Supervise and witness pre-commissioning, testing, and energization of electrical systems.
- Verify electrical equipment labeling, cable routing, insulation, termination, and protection schemes.
- Maintain records, prepare progress reports, and document non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with civil and mechanical disciplines to resolve interface and coordination
issues on site.
- Promote and enforce a high standard of site safety, particularly in energized or high-voltage
environments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power / Energy focus preferred).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in electrical site supervision, preferably in industrial or
infrastructure projects.
- Proven expertise in MV/LV systems, substations, site lighting, and infrastructure power networks.
- In-depth knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, BS, etc.).
- Experience with testing and commissioning of electrical infrastructure, including interfacing with
utilities or port power systems.
- Ability to review single-line diagrams, load schedules, and protection coordination studies.
- Proficient in MS Office and basic AutoCAD; knowledge of SCADA/BMS systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working under international consultancy or engineering firms.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions and performance-based infrastructure contracts.
- Strong communication skills in multicultural environments.
- Excelent knowledge of English is
mandatory.
