We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Albion, Illinois. This position plays a key role in designing, improving, and supporting electrical systems, controls, and manufacturing equipment to maximize safety, reliability, productivity, and efficiency. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams, this role will help drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout our manufacturing facility.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develops, makes recommendations and provides electrical design and support for the improvement or addition of manufacturing facilities, processes, and equipment.  Works with leads/managers, engineers, other service departments, and shop floor personnel to determine electrical controls engineering needs and solutions.

 

  • Estimates project costs, including material and labor, and determines project timeline.  Specifies and orders materials/components for new equipment or for the rebuilding of equipment in order to ensure timely completion and minimal line disruption.

 

  • Generates Programmable Logic Control programs and printouts of the machine controls.  Maintains equipment files and PLC program backup files through the compilation of data in order to provide service departments with information concerning equipment and PLC programs.

 

  • Serves as a resource for the shop floor through advising and training of technicians, maintenance and other personnel. 

 

  • Assists in implementation of equipment modifications or installation of new equipment.  Conducts machine startup and debugging processes, inspects completed installations, and observes operations in order to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.

 

  • Provides power distribution, facilities wiring, and preventative electrical maintenance at all manufacturing facilities to keep operations running efficiently.

 

  • Draws and updates approved circuit designs in the form of electrical schematics, electrical panel layouts, and electrical wiring layout sketches on computer aided drawing programs in order to maintain accurate machine control prints.

 

  • Ensures compliance with all electrical-related codes and regulations in the performance of duties.  Enhances a culture of safety through training and advising others and following all safety rules and regulations.

 

  • Conducts work in a safe manner, following established best practices, procedures, and regulations.

 

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

 

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, machine controls, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, motors, electrical panels, and industrial automation.
  • Experience reading and creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software.
  • Understanding of industrial electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for solving manufacturing challenges

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience supporting manufacturing equipment, industrial controls, or automation systems preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with PLC programming, industrial automation, robotics, or controls engineering is a plus.
