[What the role is]
You will act as a client representative electrical design engineer for JTC and various public sector agencies for building and infrastructure projects as well as industrial estates. You will coordinate with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Singapore Power (SP) PowerGrid to plan transmission (66kV and above) and distribution (22kV) electrical infrastructure supporting JTC industrial estates.[What you will be working on]
You will formulate project briefs for consultancy tenders, manage consultants and review their electrical designs for various subsystems, technical calculations, specifications, drawings, material submissions, and M&E cost estimates from design through project completion.
Using engineering calculation software, you will conduct value engineering and cost-benefit analyses whilst ensuring compliance with local construction industry regulations and codes.
Working with multiple public sector agencies and technical professionals, you will manage broad project work scopes, resources and timelines. You will collaborate with JTC colleagues to forecast future industrial power demand and work with government agencies, EMA and SP Group to plan network upgrades and new substation construction.
You will represent JTC in various agency committees, effectively communicating engineering concepts and driving innovative solutions across stakeholder groups.
[What we are looking for]
Background in Electrical or Power Engineering with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in consultancy, design and/or electrical network planning
Registration with the Professional Engineer's Board (PEB) would be an advantage
Certifications such as Design for Safety Professional, Green Mark, and Building Construction certifications advantageous
Strong grasp of engineering concepts with ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder coordination
Self-driven and dynamic approach to project management
Skills Required
- Degree or background in Electrical or Power Engineering with at least 2-3 years relevant experience in consultancy, design and/or electrical network planning
- Experience coordinating with utility/regulatory bodies (e.g., Energy Market Authority, Singapore Power) and planning transmission/distribution infrastructure
- Ability to review electrical designs, technical calculations, specifications, drawings, material submissions, and M&E cost estimates
- Proficiency with engineering calculation software and conducting value engineering and cost‑benefit analyses
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder coordination and committee representation
- Self-driven, dynamic project management skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Registration with the Professional Engineer's Board (PEB)
- Certifications such as Design for Safety Professional, Green Mark, or Building Construction certifications
