This position reports to:
Area Field Services Manager__
The Electrical Design/Project Specialist will provide direction and assistance to the work group in order to meet assigned objectives. Responsibility includes performing Engineering and design of electrical equipment.
The work model for the role is: onsite work schedule, based in Rotterdam, NY
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
- Be responsible for Engineering and Design for the Rotterdam Service Center in Rotterdam, NY. Engineering Design Packages along with assisting on Startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, and design of Power Delivery equipment in respective area. Such as MCC’s, VFD’s Control Panels and AC/DC Starters.
- The Electrical Design/Project Engineer will work with other engineers, technicians, and contractors including project management and assEist lead site engineer or site project manager with design and application.
- Plan, organize, and perform multifunctional Engineering Design assignments in designated areas of expertise, directing the work of craft labor as required, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.
- Plan, prepare, and/or instruct both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate engineering design and/or product knowledge in area of specialization.
- Perform administrative functions in a timely manner that are associated with your work, such as writing technical reports, ordering necessary materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, expense tracking sheets, and cost control activities. Such tasks must be completed on a timely, and thorough basis.
- Work directly with customers and ABB sales / service team to identify new engineering design service opportunities, develop proposals, and execute work scope.
- Develop knowledge of ABB Industrial Solutions, terms & conditions, and those of our customers & sub-contractors to minimize risk and ensure compliance & integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 0+ years of experience (OR Associate’s degree with 3+ years of experience, OR High School Diploma / GED with 5+ additional years of related electrical design engineering experience).
- Demonstrated & ability to build strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, with strong business acumen.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license. ABB will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. - Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area is preferred.
- Technical skills in the design and testing of power distribution and delivery to include MCC’s, VFD’s, Electrical Control and relay Panels, AC/DC Starters is also preferred.
